Membership Benefits

Chapter Events

LA/NECA holds regularly scheduled general membership luncheon meetings. Guest speakers address the membership on a variety of issues related to the electrical contracting industry or small business in general. These meetings provide opportunities to learn, make new acquaintances in your field and enjoy programs designed to help you run your business more knowledgeably.

Additionally, the annual National Convention as well as the District and Tri-District meetings, provide a great deal of valuable information.

Other local events include the annual golf tournament, Industry BBQ, and Inaugural Ball, as well as educational seminars.

Visit our Events page for to see currently scheduled events.

Industry Information

LA/NECA members receive the Panelboard newsletter with information on local events and industry news. They will also receive important industry information through email updates.

A number of publications and specially designed business forms are available through the NECA Store.

In addition, LA/NECA members receive a personal copy of the NECA Manual of Labor Units. This manual helps our members estimate their jobs using the most widely accepted up-to-date scientific techniques.

Insurance Programs

Workers Compensation:The NECA West Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program is the core insurance program for members of the National Electrical Contractors Association in California. The program accelerates claims settlements by reducing attorney involvement in the process and may lower your workers' compensation premiums. The NECA West ADR program is the only ADR program endorsed by both the IBEW and NECA, and approved by the State of California.

The ADR program works in conjunction with the NECA members' workers' compensation insurance provider (whether an insurance carrier or the State Fund).

Health Insurance: A number of health insurance options are available for NECA contractor office personnel (who may not be covered by a CBA plan) through the Cal NECA Health Plan. Options include Blue Shield, Kaiser, Delta Dental and Vision Service Plan.

Management Education

LA/NECA recognizes the importance of providing meaningful educational programs designed to enhance and expand the skills of its members and their employees. The Chapter routinely offers courses that may cover such topics as estimating, change orders, construction law and other relevant subjects. Classes are conducted locally by experts in their respective fields.

LA/NECA members may also attend seminars and courses sponsored by National NECA's Management Education Institute. These courses may be held in Southern California and other locations throughout the country.

Labor Relations

LA/NECA represents its member contractors in collective bargaining with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Unions 11 (Los Angeles County), 40 (Motion Picture Industry Production) and 952 (Ventura County).

LA/NECA assists members in understanding and working with the collective bargaining agreements. Other areas of assistance may include advice on legal aspects of employment, workers' compensation, unemployment benefits, wage and hour compensation, bonuses, hiring practices, etc.

Government Affairs

Contractors are continuously seeking to make their voices heard on national regulatory and legislative issues affecting their interests. LA/NECA focuses its activities in three basic areas: monitoring and participation in the legislative process, advocating regulatory reform and congressional oversight, and developing political awareness and participation by NECA members.

Additionally, the Chapter maintains a liaison with your representatives at the state and national levels. Members are represented and advised of any changes or proposed changes in local, state and national legislation. Through LA/NECA's governmental affairs work, members have a voice in influencing legislation and are kept up-to-date on regulatory issues that affect the industry.
